LOCATION: 8 miles from Stirling City Centre.
The Lion and
Unicorn is a traditional family owned country house hotel tucked away
just outside Stirling. It is thriving with a locally well used restaurant
and activity filled bar, an indication in itself that the quality of
food must be top notch. The current owners Bobby and Fiona Stevenson
have refurbished this 400 year old building into the glorious state
it is in today. For the homely touch, we have 3 log burning fires,
including a huge 1635 open fireplace in one of the dining rooms. The
accommodation upstairs is of an excellent standard and the views from
the windows capture the essence of being in the heart of Scotland with
the magnificent scenery on its doorstep.
The
Lion and Unicorn is the
perfect place to spend a few days soaking up the true Scottish hospitality
that we all want to discover. Full of friendly locals, it is one of
the few Free Houses left in Scotland, with reasonable prices on beer.
If you are tempted to pass by even just to try the food, it is advisable
to book at the weekends in order to avoid disappointment.
The Lion and Unicorn is just half an hour away from Gleneagles,
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, making it an ideal base for touring the
local sights.
